AJK President, PM discusses latest situation in IOK, development projects


MUZAFFARABAD, Azad Jammu and Kashmir President, Sardar Masood Khan has said adjournment of hearing of the petition seeking abrogation of Article 35-A by Indian Supreme Court is the major success of the freedom loving people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He made these remarks during his meeting with AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan. The two leaders praised the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir for their persistent struggle to frustrate Indian designs.
During the meeting, the President and PM expressed their resolve not to spare any effort to extend all possible support to the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir for the realization of their right to self determination in deciding their future and political status with free will.

Condemning the gross violation of human rights in the Occupied Valley, President and Prime Minister showed their unanimity to highlight Kashmiri peoples’ just struggle at all available global forums and to prevent India from changing the demography of the held territory.

Stressing the need for continued unity and solidarity among the political and resistance forces of Kashmir, they reassured full support and unity to the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir and their ongoing freedom struggle on behalf of AJK government and the people.
President Sardar Masood Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan strongly condemned the unprovoked Indian fire from across the Line of Control by Indian forces and the targeting of unarmed civilians in Azad Kashmir.

The President and Prime Minister also discussed the ongoing development projects in AJK and agreed to accelerate efforts for developing infrastructure, increasing hydropower production, development of road networks, enhancing tourism, promoting agriculture, and expanding conventional and extractive industrial activity in the state.
They said all projects will be completed according to international standards without compromising on deadlines. They also said that projects related to water schemes, especially in the marginalized regions of AJK, need to be prioritized.

Both leaders reassured that meritocracy will be prioritized throughout the government set up by ensuring transparency and accountability at every stage to promote the culture of good governance and rule of law.

“Provision of health and educational facilities with exploring new avenue for creation of job opportunities for the educated and skilled youth would be another area of our prime focus,” President Masood Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan said.


President Masood assures full support to PRCS activities

Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has said the Presidency will fully cooperate with the organizations like Red Crescent in their welfare-oriented projects and social endeavors. He said that support will be provided in their training activities in imparting first aid, skill development for gender empowerment and similar social activities for engaging the youth.

He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony organized at President House to handover five fully equipped ambulances to the health officials of the five districts of AJK adjacent to the Line of Control affected by Indian shelling. Keys of the ambulances provided by the Pakistan Red Crescent Society State branch Azad Kashmir were handed over to AJK Prime Minister by President on behalf of Red Crescent.

Speaking on the occasion, President Masood said that Pakistan Red Crescent Society has earned an excellent reputation and good name by serving the victims of 2005 earthquake and now the organization has also rendered another great humanitarian service by providing ambulances to the civilian population residing along the Line of Control. He expressed his profound gratitude to the Dr. Saeed Ilahi, Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent for the generous donation.

Saying that humanitarian services offered by Pakistan Red Crescent Society were acknowledged and appreciated at the global level in the wake 2005 earthquake, President said that the organization is not only playing a significant role in disaster management and mitigation. He said that the Pakistan Red Crescent society is not only contributing to relief and rehabilitation work after a natural disasters but is also playing an important role in creating valuable awareness within the general public in the sectors of health, hygiene, sanitation, community self-sufficiency and even providing psycho-social support to the masses afflicted by natural disasters.

The President also thanked the PM Raja Farooq for creating Rs. 100 million endowment fund for the PRCS-AJK with the help of former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. He also praised his efforts for allocating land in Muzaffarabad for PRCS-AJK Chapter’s building.

President Masood Khan commended the efforts of PRCS in mobilizing and creating awareness among the youth. He expressed his satisfaction over the fact that currently 1.8 million young volunteers are engaged with PRSC.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, highly appreciated the services of PRCS in the field of health and assured that government will fully cooperate with the organization. He suggested leading a donation and awareness drive in Muzaffarabad for the organization.

The event was also attended by Sardar Mahmood, Chairman PRCS-AJK; Mr. Farhat Mir, Additional Chief Secretary (General); Brigadier Hassan Iqbal, Commandant CMH Muzaffarabad; Sardar Zafar, Special Secretary Health AJK; and notable members of the civil society.
