Revolutionary steps should be taken for betterment of Pakistan: Sh. Rasheed Ahmad


ISLAMABAD: Lt. General M. Afzal, Engineer –in –Chief, Engineering Corp called on Sh. Rasheed Ahmad, Federal Minister for Railways at Ministry of Railways on Thursday. Both sides discussed to bring revolutionary changes in Pakistan Railways for its betterment.Lt. General Afzal suggested that 6 industrial zones shall be constituted near big railway stations. Resultantly freight sector of Pakistan Railways will become strong. The upgradation of ML I on broad gauge was also discussed. On the other hand, Federal Minister for Railways said,” Revolutionary steps should be taken for betterment of Pakistan”. He also cleared that broad gauge will not be ended. But a new standard gauge, as an alternative track, should also be constructed. He cleared that he will always protect Railways’ officers and assets. He showed special interest in betterment of Karachi-Sukkar section. Both sides mentioned that CPEC will be successful if Gwadar will be connected with the entire country through Railways. Both parties showed interest in construction of Nullah Lai Expressway which will bring revolution in Rawalpindi’s life. The new Nullah Lai Expressway has been extended to 4 kms. It will be 2 way signal free corridor from Sawan to Islamabad.
