ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation of former officials and senior civil society activists of Afghanistan called on SAPM on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning Dr. Moeed Yusuf today. The discussion covered ways to promote bilateral ties and cooperation, and discussed the process of peace and development in Afghanistan. The delegation is visiting Pakistan as part of the “Beyond Boundaries” initiative of the Centre for Research & Security Studies.
SAPM Dr. Moeed Yusuf warmly welcomed the delegation and held an open and candid discussion on peace, security and development in Afghanistan. “We fully support a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. We would like to see our brotherly country Afghanistan as a prosperous, united and democratic country”, he said.
SAPM Dr. Moeed Yusuf said that Pakistan has done whatever it could to facilitate the Afghan peace process. He said that Pakistan stands with Afghan-owned, Afghan-led political resolution of the conflict. He also highlighted that the recent peace agreement was a vindication of Pakistan’s position that there is no military solution to the war in Afghanistan.
The delegation appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting peace in Afghanistan. They vowed for more people to people contact.
Dr. Moeed Yusuf asked the delegation to carry the message of peace and support for the people of Afghanistan from Pakistan. The delegation expressed their satisfaction and gratitude. They promised to convey the message of love from the people of Pakistan to the people of Afghanistan.
