Islamabad, British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Dr. Christian Turner called on Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser to discuss the ongoing bilateral engagements between the two countries and to enhance the scope of cooperation both at governmental and parliamentary levels.
The Speaker while talking to the High Commissioner said that Pakistan was alarmed by the rising xenophobia, Islamophobia, racism, hate speeches, discrimination and intolerance around the world. We have always emphasized on respect for all religious beliefs and sacred personalities and any ridicule, insult or defamation of religious personalities should be discouraged and penalized, said Speaker Asad Qaiser.
The British High Commissioner greeted the Speaker on the ending of holy month of Ramadan and wished a happy and healthy Eid to the entire Muslim Ummah.
The Speaker thanked the British Envoy and said that the month of Ramadan not only brought blessings of Allah but also instilled the value of sustained and patient effort required to be part of our daily life. Eid-ul-Fitr was the culmination of the humble endeavor undertaken to invoke goodwill of Almighty Allah. The essential lesson of Eid-ul-Fitr was laden with shunning all differences between us and this sacred occasion exhorts us to promote harmony with the aim to inculcate love and affection for each other.
