ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum, Omar Ayub Khan and SAPM, Nadeem Babar chaired a meeting at the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) Headquarters this morning.
Chairman Board of Directors, Shamsuddin Sheikh, Board Members, Acting Managing Director, Qazi Sajid and other senior officials from PMDC attended the meeting. Mr Sajid Qazi gave a detailed presentation to the Federal Minister on the operational details of PMDC and gave a run down of some of the key undertakings under PMDC’s operations.
Separately, the current and future strategies to reform the organization and bring it at par with efficient, modern mineral organizations of the world was also discussed at great length.
The Federal Minister appreciated the work being undertaken by the organization but stressed on the need to invest in Research and Development, capacity building, reorienting the organization and leading focused efforts to reach it’s true potential.
Mr Omar Ayub Khan asked the Board and management to strictly implement best practices at the PMDC and initiate efforts for diversification of its core business base.
Mr Nadeem Babar urged the BOD’s to ensure that PMDC must make optimum use of its existing resource base to expand its operations and make concerted efforts to tap into unexplored markets. He called for inducing efficiency, value addition to the organization.
Both, the Federal Minister and SAPM offered their full support in enhancing the Organization’s effectiveness and instructed to ensure that transparency, merit are strictly upheld at PMDC.
