H.E. Mr.Yao Jing, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan called on Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination today.
Besides areas of mutual interet, matters pertaining to social sector development, sports and youth internship & exchange programs were discussed.
The Minister warmly welcomed the guests and said that China is our trusted friend and Pakistan highly values its ties with China. “We are committed to further enhance cooperation with China in multidimensional spheres and one of the major areas of cooperation is sports.” The Minister underscored the need renewed cooperation in sports and said that sports were neglected in past but the incumbent government is determined to facilitate and improve the standard of sports in Pakistan. “We would welcome Chinese cooperation in technical areas, infrastructural and skill development in sports”. She also highlighted the prospects of mutual cultural exchanges and of better collaboration for poverty alleviation and women empowerment.
While highlighting the importance of CPEC, the Minister said that CPEC is our national priority. It is very important for sustainable peace in the region. The envoy said that initially, CPEC was focusing on infrastructure but its next phase is focusing more on social sector development. It was agreed that the Youth Exchange Program should be revised and for that ,the envoy suggested that more specific, focused and small groups should be exchanged between the countries on regular basis.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan H.E. Ali Alizada called on the Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Dr. Fehmida Mirza in her office this afternoon.
The Minister warmly welcomed the guest and said that Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Azerbaijan and the incumbent government is committed to explore more areas of cooperation with Azerbaijan.
The envoy said that Pakistan is a strategic brotherly country of Azerbaijan and the government and the people of Azerbaijan are always keen to strengthen relations with Pakistan. “We share very cordial and warm brotherly relations with Pakistan. We support each other on regional and international issues. We appreciate Pakistan’s support on Nabor issue and at the same time we support Pakistan on Kashmir Issue” said the envoy.
The Minister appreciated Azerbaijan’s stance on Kashmir and said that although the Government is committed to have friendly relations with all the neighboring countries yet such long standing issues should be resolved to have sustainable development in the region. The Minister reiterated the importance of CPEC and said that it is not confined to just two countries but has open up to Central Asian. It is not just an infrastructural project but can provide and opportunity for peace and stability in the region.
Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in multiple areas including energy, sports and social sector development.
