MOU Was Signed Between AWECT Netherlands and Pakistan Island Development Authority Today.


Islamabad: The Ministry of Maritime Affairs is pleased to announce that in line with Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan’s vision of implementing renewable energy initiatives, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between AWECT Netherlands and Pakistan Island Development Authority on December 1, 2020, in Islamabad. An investment of US$ 1 billion is expected in waste-to-energy and desalination plants on Bundal Island Karachi.

This project will provide the impetus towards sustainable development with low emission technology in renewable energy from the Netherlands.

The MOU was signed by Mr. Imran Amin, Chairman of Pakistan Island Development Authority, and Mr. Evert Lictenbelt, Chief Executive Officer of AWECT Netherlands. The signing ceremony was attended by Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, Federal Minister of Maritime Affairs, Ambassador of the Netherlands His Excellency Wouter Plomp, Mr. Rizwan Ahmed Secretary Maritime affairs, and Mr. Sohail Kokab, Pakistan Country Representative of AWECT Netherlands.
