Mr. Jean Rene Fournier, President of Council of States of Swiss Confederation called on the Prime Minister today.
Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated Mr. Fournier on successful holding of the Swiss elections on October 20, 2019. The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction at the bilateral relations between the two countries and expressed his desire to further strengthen them. He highlighted the role of Parliamentary interactions for enhancing bilateral relations. Prime Minister also invited Swiss businesses to take advantage of the improved security situation and the booming tourism industry in Pakistan. While highlighting the Government’s investor friendly policies, the Prime Minister invited Swiss businesses to invest in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister apprised the President of the Swiss Council of States of the recent developments in the Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJ&K). He highlighted the dire humanitarian crisis and the negative impact on regional peace and security situation due to India’s illegal actions taken in violation of international law and UNSC resolutions. Since 05 August, an inhuman lockdown had continued with curfew and communications blockade. The Prime Minister called for the international community to play its role in the immediate lifting of the siege and facilitating a just and durable solution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
