Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Pakistani president, Arif Alvi met on Friday on the sidelines of the NAM summit in Baku. In this meeting, Rouhani said that Iran and Pakistan have good capacity to expand cooperation and Iran expands cooperation with regional countries and It has made Pakistan a top priority in its policies, especially in the economic and trade spheres.

The President noted the numerous meetings of senior Iranian and Pakistani officials in recent years and the role of these meetings in further developing joint cooperation, adding: “Within the framework of these meetings, good agreements have been reached in the fields of science and research and energy, including the Peace Pipeline. As soon as possible, these agreements will serve the interests of both nations and the region.

Rouhani, condemning US unilateral policies in the international and regional arena, said Iran continues to live up to its commitments despite the US’s unilateral withdrawal from the brokerage agreement.

He also praised Pakistan’s efforts to stabilize the region and establish security at the common borders, noting that the two countries’ cooperation in the fight against terrorism is of paramount importance.
