Islamabad, Prime Minister Imran Khan today chaired meeting of the Task Force on Naya Pakistan Housing Project here at Prime Minister’s Office.
The meeting was attended among others by Minister for Finance Mr. Asad Umar, Minister for Housing Ch. Tariq Bashir Cheema, Planning Minister Mr. Khusro Bakhtiar, Senior Minister Punjab Mr. Aleem Khan, Secretary Housing Dr. Imran Zeb, Chairman NADRA, members of the Housing Task Force and senior government officials.
Chairman NADRA briefed the Prime Minister about the progress so far on registration process which is being undertaken for ascertaining demand and profiling of the various income groups.
It was informed that the registration survey has witnessed overwhelming response from the public especially the low income and middle-income groups. It was informed that over 6,00,000 forms have been downloaded so far. The Prime Minister was informed that NADRA has made special arrangements for collection of forms at 24 registration units. The registration process would continue for 60 days.
The meeting also deliberated upon various options to facilitate provision of required financial support to the low-income groups and thus enable them avail the opportunity of 05 million housing project of the government.
Mr. Amjad Saqib of Akhuwwat Foundation also presented before the Prime Minister a plan for construction of at least one million low cost houses following an already experienced Akhwwat model of incremental housing.
The Prime Minister appreciated the progress made so far and directed the Task Force to finalize modalities and future action plan regarding the establishment of Naya Pakistan Housing Authority, detailed and multifaceted financial model catering to different income groups and the legal framework within 03 weeks.
The Prime Minister said that the response received so far both from the local investors as well as foreign investors and overseas Pakistanis towards the project was encouraging. He said that unfortunately the housing sector had remained one of the most neglected area in past and no serious effort was made by the previous governments to cater to the needs of the low-income groups for provision of shelter. He said that 05 million housing project is the flagship project of the present government which would create huge job opportunities for the youth and would provide a boost to over 40 allied industries of the construction sector.
UAE Delegation conveys clear directions of the H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to elevate UAE Pakistan relationship to a long term strategic comprehensive economic partnership
A large UAE delegation led by the Minister of State and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, called on Prime Minister Imran Khan today.
Prime Minister Imran Khan welcomed the delegation that had been sent on the specific directions of HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of UAE, with whom the Prime Minister met on 19 September 2018 in Abu Dhabi and agreed to strengthen economic, trade and investment relations.
Prime Minister said that the composition and important membership of this delegation reflected UAE’s seriousness about strengthening the historic relations with Pakistan. He highlighted the immense investment opportunities in renewable energy, petroleum and petrochemicals, sea water desalination, agricultural research and infrastructure development in Pakistan. Prime Minister encouraged the visiting delegation to explore these areas for investment.
Minister of State Dr. Al Jaber evinced UAE corporate sector’s interest to invest in Pakistan. He underscored that Pakistan had a lucrative market and a special geographic location. He conveyed UAE’s desire to elevate the relationship to a long term strategic economic partnership.
Both sides agreed to achieve real and tangible results in the shortest possible timeframe.
The Prime Minister was accompanied during the call by Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Finance, Power, Planning, Advisor to the PM on Commerce, MoS/Chairman BOI and the Foreign Secretary.
Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes for the health and happiness of the UAE leadership.
Speaker National Assembly Mr. Asad Qaiser called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at PM Office today.
Matters pertaining to legislative business in the National Assembly came under discussion during the meeting.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Mahmood Khan called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at PM Office Islamabad today.
Provincial Minister KP Mr. Shaukat Ali Yousafzai was also present during the meeting.
