Quetta, Federal Minister for Defense Production, Zobaida Jalal on Tuesday said the construction of Gwadar Shipyard would generate revenue and create job opportunities. Secretary Industries Balochistan, Hafiz Abdul Majid, and the Deputy Secretary Defense Production signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the Gwadar Shipyard at the chief minister’s secretariat Balochistan.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan, and federal minister Zobaida Jalal also witnessed the signing ceremony about Gwadar Shipyard.
Speaking on the occasion, the Federal Minister said the Gwadar shipyard was bigger than the Karachi shipyard. This shipyard would open new visits of development and jobs in the area , she said.
The Minister said special training would be imparted to youth of Balochistan with regard to the repair of ships in Gwadar. The first priority is to provide jobs to locals of Gwadar, she said.
CM Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan termed the project as a revolutionary step on the part of the federal government. He said the construction of the shipyard would create job opportunities for the people of the area.
He said the shipyard would not affect the indigenous population rather local people would be given priority in jobs. Jam Kamal said his government was trying to improve the living standards of the people and for this purpose, various steps were being adopted.
