Lahore, On the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani, the crackdown on anti-social elements across the province has been launched uninterruptedly and crackdown on notorious criminals, illegal arms holders and drug dealers has been intensified. In this regard, Sheikhupura Police under the leadership of DPO Ghulam Mubashir Mekan took emergency measures to arrest anti-social elements this month, which has significantly reduced the crime rate in the district. DPO Sheikhupura Ghulam Mubashir Mekan has said that Sheikhupura police is pursuing zero tolerance policy against anti-social elements. Police Teams are not only engaged in implementation and enforcement directions by government regarding corona SOPs but also the process of detaining and eliminating of criminals is underway. Showing extraordinary performance during this month 12 accused of 05 dangerous robbery and dacoity gangs have been arrested and 16 cases have been traced out. A large number of stolen goods were recovered from the possession of the arrested accused including Rs. 16 lakh 35 thousand in cash, 5 valuable mobile phones, 03 motorcycles and modern weapons including 3 Kalashinkovs, 8 pistols. As a result of the special operation launched against the proclaimed offenders, 24 A-category criminals and 64 B-category criminals were arrested. In the ongoing crackdown on illegal weapons, 244 cases were registered this month and 244 criminals were arrested from whose possession 10 Kalashinkovs, 186 pistols of 30 bore ,24 rifles, 24 guns, 3 revolvers, 3 carbines, 2 daggers and a large number of cartridges and bullets were recovered. In the ongoing operation against drug dealers, 115 cases were registered and 87 kg 567 grams of hashish, 12 grams of heroin, 28 grams of opium, 1568 liters of liquor and 2 kilns were recovered from the possession of the accused. Under the National Action Plan, 11 cases were registered under the Temporary Residence Act while under the Punjab Sound System, 9 cases were registered against the persons. While Instructing to all circle officers and SHOs for taking full action against the accused , Regional Police officer Dr Inaam Waheed Khan and District Police officer Ghulam Mubashir Mekan said that surprise visits of various offices and units including police stations are being continued to further improve the performance. DPO Sheikhupura further said that according to the Citizen Centric Policing as per vision of IG Punjab Inam Ghani, making police a friend and helper of the people is the top priority of Sheikhupura police and open court is being held on daily basis for immediate delivery of justice to the citizens. While zero tolerance policy on corruption and misuse of power will be continued.
